This Facebook post stopped me in my tracks.
“I gave up on concerts until I was turned on to Concerts In Your Home.......this is an excellent way to enjoy good company and hear new & wonderful music. Greg Brooke”
Greg didn’t say that he loved house concerts among the many concerts he attended. He said he gave up on concerts until house concerts came along. And, Greg didn’t stumble upon them. Someone cared enough to turn him on to them.
You and I full well know that Greg is not alone. We know he’s one of many who starve for the local public listening room experience and are probably altogether unaware that private listening rooms even exist.
And we also know that word of mouth still remains the key ingredient to sustaining this tidal wave of interest in listening rooms.
So, here are my takeaway questions from Greg’s powerful little post:
1. Do I support my local public listening rooms? (Do I even know where they are these days?)
2. Is it time to step up and host small, casual, yummy events in my home?
3. If I already do, maybe I’m ready to start a “DNS group?”
4. Do I begin to realize that there are hundreds, maybe thousands, of thirsty music lovers on this planet that might not soon discover the wonder of house concerts unless I reach out to them?
