    DNS groups

Okay, you’ve figured out whether you prefer the dinner or dessert or breakfast version of the mini house concert called “DinnerAndSong” (DNS).  And you’ve pretty much tamed the room prep.  So how do you keep the RSVP and booking process really, really simple?

Try this out.  (And this is very cool.)

This week, create a “DNS group” among 12 of your local friends plus 12 of their friends.  25 of you altogether.  They can be seasoned music lovers or people who have no idea how much they can fall in love with intimate live music.

Start by inviting your 12 friends to become part of this amazing new trend.  Each of them needs to bring in a friend of their own.  If any of your 12 are not interested or ready yet, thank them and go to person 13 on your list and so on until you get your 12 + 12.

Have them understand that this group of 24 will always get the first invitation to your DNS events.  They also get the option to host an artist if your group wants to rotate the hosting.

Once you get your new DNS group together, here’s an example of how quickly you can pull together a memorable mini house concert.

Let's say you're part of the ConcertsInYourHome DNS host network, and a great touring artist finds you through a search of DNS hosts in your area.  She offers to join you and your friends for a DNS event next week on Thursday.

You check out her CIYH profile (sample), and you like what you see.  So you simply kick out a very short distribution email to your group and give them the proposed date and time as well as the link to her profile.  Your DNS group has 48 hours to RSVP, and it’s first reply, first reserve.  You’re a Go as soon as you get the 12th "I'm in."  You’ll count on 10 to show up.

Now you give the artist the good news.  In just two days your event is booked and fully reserved.  And all it took was saying Yes to an artist and getting a dozen Yes emails from your DNS group.

If you want to do a dessert version, and if some folks are willing to sit on the floor or stand, you can raise the RSVP limit to the number of people you can squeeze into your living room as is.

The point is, eliminate all the reasons to not host a DNS.  Find your rhythm with successful simple events.  And then add other elements to your mini concerts as you go.

And if you haven’t already done so, why not join the free CIYH DNS network and allow extraordinary touring artist talent to find you.
