[Another great guest post. ConcertsInYourHome artist Vicki Genfan was chosen as the 2008 Guitar Magazine's "Guitar Superstar." I was fortunate to book Vicki for our concert series recently. During the sound check, I spoke with Vicki about her take on the DNS mini concert concept as an experienced touring artist. I loved what she shared and I asked her to offer her thoughts with you here. She was glad to do so. Enjoy.]
From Vicki:
Traditionally, most of the 'good gigs' are on Friday or Saturday nights. That leaves 5 nights a week open. When you're traveling that means 5 nights of hotels and meals coming out of your pocket. You can easily spend all that you earned over the previous weekend.
The DNS concept is brilliant and may very well keep touring musicians like myself alive and out on the road! By providing the DNS format with its clear time boundaries, I think we’re helping hosts realize that they can give the gift of live music to family and friends in a whole new way.
By offering these simple, midweek concerts, I'm sure a flood of fantastic artists will be excited to share their talents all across the country. And on top of the music itself, hosts can remember how much they'll be doing to keep live, independent music alive!!
[Thanks, Vicki! You can watch Vicki’s award-winning performance in front of top caliber judges such as Andy Summers and Steve Vai. Check it out.]
